Clarus Group Cares
Each year we review and engage with a select group of charities that we feel best align with our core values and serve populations that are near and dear to our employee's hearts. We look for organizations that not only allow us to contribute to the mission monetarily but also use our knowledge, skills, and abilities to help modernize the charity and/or roll up our sleeves and get physical.
Charities We Support
As a Veteran owned organization, we support the Veterans Community Project Village in KC, located at 89th and Troost in Kansas City, Missouri. VCP is an innovative community of 49 tiny houses for Veterans experiencing homelessness. The homes range in size from 240 to 320 square feet, meet all local city code requirements, and connect to city utility services. Approximately 70% of the Village construction was performed by community volunteers.
Another initiative we support is the Women's Center. For over 45 years, The Women's Center has provided mental health counseling, support, and education to the metropolitan area to help people live healthy, stable, and productive lives. This organization has grown to include service to women, men, families, young adults, and children. They now serve over 5,000 people annually at their two locations in Virginia and Washington DC.
Clarus Group also supports the MS Society. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body. The cause of MS is still unknown. Scientists believe that a combination of environmental and genetic factors contribute to the risk of developing MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. The MS Society is dedicated to funding research for cures, provide resources and support, and educating the public on the disease.
Clarus Group also supports the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, an annual race that raises funds for cancer research, resources, and support. It started back in 1985 with Dr. Gordon, "Gordy," Klatt when he ran around the track in Tacoma Washington for 24 hours, raising money to help the American Cancer Society.
Friends, family, and patients watched and supported him as he walked and ran more than 83.6 miles and raised $27,000 through pledges to help save lives from cancer. After previously battling stomach cancer, Gordy passed away from heart failure on August 3, 2014, at the age of 71. But his legacy lives on. He shaped an idea that started as one man walking and running a track and helped turn it into a global fundraising phenomenon. We of the people of Clarus Group want to recognize the strength and tenacity it takes for one to battle cancer. Therefore, we lovingly support the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life.
